Q-Hydrology is a research and consulting company that combines scientific research with practical solutions for water management in New Zealand and abroad. Q-Hydrology’s key expertise is the development and use of quantitative methods and models and tools to help creating a better understanding of the water resources and how these may be affected by water users (e.g., hydropower and irrigation), weather (e.g., high-intensity rainfall events), climate (e.g., prolonged droughts and climate change), and decision making (e.g., change in allocation or minimum flow requirements).
Vision
Our vision is to enable a sustainable future of our water resources. We believe this can only be achieved by well-informed decision making, supported by quantitative methods, tools, models, and data. Q-Hydrology aims to improve this decision-making process by creating a better understanding of our water resources, now and into the future.
Approach
Our quantitative methods, models, and tools often involve using a smart combination of simulation models, scripting (Python), innovative remote sensing technologies, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Q-Hydrology is also experienced in the processing and analysis of large (spatial) data sets and the development of operational services.
Working with us
Q-Hydrology has its local office in Christchurch, New Zealand. Most of our projects are carried out from the Christchurch office. However, we are flexible when it comes to working for a client. Therefore, working remotely, traveling overseas, and working at the client’s premises are options when working with us.
